where the heck I've been...

Well... there is no doubt that I have not been a regular blogger this past month. We have been busier than we would care to be and I haven't felt creative enough to share about the daily projects of home remodeling, punching the clock & church responsibilities! I figured it's about time to do a little updating...

Most of you (all 4 of you who may be reading my blog) know that we bought a house at the first of the year that we are remodeling with the hopes of being able to live in it at some point in our lives. Needless to say it has been a slow & grueling process. For those of you who watch as many home improvements shows as we do....this is the part of the episode where they show the owners (looking a little stressed), who say...
"We are definately behind schedule and over budget!"
(It sure looks easier on TV when they do it in 30 minutes)

We had hoped to be a little further along then we are right now, seeing how our lease is up next month and we are sick of paying both rent and mortgage payments every month. Alas, it is what it is. We have ended up doing a little more than we originally planned....mostly because of the argument "Well, we already have it torn apart...we might as well update the all of the plumbing and electrical and replace the hardwood floors with the ones we really want and along with new windows, it needs a new furnace and we need to add central air (no thanks, mr. swamp cooler) and how about we add all new recessed lighting and as long as we have it all ripped out, lets replace all the door casings and baseboards and what the heck...we might as well just add a swimming pool and maybe a bowling alley downstairs while we're at it!" (okay, okay... I was just kidding about the swimming pool and bowling alley)

...but, all joking aside, it truly has been a never ending project. It has felt like we take 2 steps forward and 3 steps back! Man, have we learned A LOT. Our families have been such a huge help and Chris is a freaking rockstar! If he doesn't know how to do something...he'll figure it out! He seriously isn't afraid of ANY project, (sometimes it's even a little frustrating...he's taken on a lot to his already busy schedule).
.
So...after all that rambling nonsense...we aren't even close to being finished (clearly, you can tell that, right) ...
.
Nevertheless... I thought that I'd post a few pictures to document the process.

You'll have to stay tuned for the un-veiling of the final results!
(Something I, too, am excited to finally see!)

Home Sweet Home

The Living Room...

New windows, harwood floors, baseboards, shutters and final paint still to come!

The Dining Room...
New windows, harwood floors, light fixtures, paint & baseboards still to come...

The Kitchen...

Well...pretty much everything still to come! Travertine floors, new cabinets, appliances, countertops and lighting.

The Master Bedroom and Bathroom...

We are changing the layout of the master closet and master bath and we are still in a giant mess. But the finished project is sure to be worth it!
.
Well...
That's just a little, teeny, tiny sampling...man, oh man is there more where that came from! I'm so glad that we could see the potential and charm of this great house! We really fell in love with it, almost before we could even think about how much work it would be to get it back in tip-top shape!
Give us a few more weeks (or months) and we'll be ready to have you all over!

In the mean time...I think we need a vacation!

So. . .it made me sick just looking at all those pictures. Mike and I have done our fair share of house remodeling (we flipped a few). When you first look at it, it seems only a few things need to be done. That is NEVER the case. But there's something to be said about doing it yourself. . .you'll definitely appreciate it that much more. We've done tons of stuff, so if you ever need help or have a question, give us a call. :) Especially toilets. . .those are fun. HAVE FUN IN ISRAEL and watch out for Osama.
Oh. . .and just so you know, I'll bet there's a LOT more people reading your blog than you think. Get a sitemeter on there and you'll be surprised.
